Review of Vajiram and Ravi

ABOUT-

 M/S Vajiram & Ravi is India’s well-known Institute preparing candidates for the Civil Services Examination at all the three levels – Preliminary Test, Main Examination and Personality Test. The Institute was founded in 1976 by Professor P. Velayutham who had to his credit numerous academic distinctions from India and abroad, including a diploma on International Law, awarded by the International Court of Justice, The Hague. The institute is located in Delhi.

PROS-

·     gives you an idea of the syllabus of Civil Services.

·     Gives you a strong foundation.

·     The faculties are experienced. Many have appeared for the Interviews,while some have also cleared the exam.

·     One of the trusted brand among the aspirants. Every year, you'll see students of Vajiram clearing the exam.

·     Subjects that have good faculties are- Modern History(Parmar sir), Polity(Ravindran sir), Economy( Shyam Sundar sir,Vibhash Jha sir).

·     You'll get a real feel of the competition when you see 500 odd students around in the classroom alone!

CONS-

·     Individual attention is totally absent. You study,you don't doesn't bother them!

·     Hardly 30-40% of the syllabus is coveredwell enough for you to answer Upsc level questions.

·     Subjects like - Ancient history, Ethics, Science and Tech, World history are not covered well.

·     Seats are very congested, it's suffocating sometimes.

·     Yellow books(colour changed recently) provided by them are useless.

·     Their test series are on the tougher side.

·     Fee is very high.

Q. Do I recommend Vajiram and Ravi?

Yes:

•   if you need handholding.

•   If you want to get a hang of the competition.

•   If you are not disciplined and need somebody to make a timetable and schedule for you.

No

•   If you believe in self-study

•   If you can grasp the Ncert’s well.

•   If you cannot pay lakhs.

•   If you believe, coachings will help you clear the exam.

Finally, I will recommend you to join if you think you are not disciplined enough in life. For me, I needed handholding in the beginning and every new aspirant wants to get admitted to Vajiram believing, it’ll give them a better score in the interviews and a bigger social circle in LBSNAA.
